The files themselves have no CVS state -- even the keywords have no
state that's read rather than written. The only state is in the CVS
subdirectory, in the Entries file, as Peter says. What you describe
doesn't sound like it should cause any problem at all, since it should
be equivalent to a (possibly substantial) edit of the file. Does `cvs
status mapping.c' say anything interesting?
