OK, given what Mark and I see, that's probably the cause.

I think file:/// should be OK for netscape 4 too (since it's a URL not a
local file name that we're supposed to pass using openURL), but having
just tried this out at RAL and Durham I cannot say for sure as "showme"
and "-remote" don't work at all for me on any version I've found (4.08,
4.6, 4.78). Could you (and anyone else with access to SUNs) try this out
and confirm there's nothing to preserve anyway!

Certainly are, we've never even looked at Konqueror, Galeon or Opera.
