The Records Management Society are running a fieldtrip to the Underground
storage facilities of Wansdyke Security in Wiltshire on the 9th July. If you
would like to find out more and possibly even attend - read on.....

ONE MILLION SQUARE FEET OF SECURITY – ONE HUNDRED FEET UNDERGROUND!

As the requirement for hard copy document storage remains a priority for
many companies and organisations from various professions, the need to find
a suitable, cost efficient, yet reliable service provider when outsourcing
remains top of many Records Managers and Archivists lists. Secure,
underground vault storage presents unique benefits and the ultimate storage
solution for clients, with Wansdyke Security Limited continuing to deliver a
range of first class solutions to the Records Management industry. Created
in 1954, Wansdyke remain one of the longest established professional Records
Management service providers in the country and have gained an excellent
reputation in the industry.

Their Monkton Farleigh vault complex represents one of the most secure
underground off site storage facilities in the country today, dedicated
solely to the storage and management of all paper based records, including
archive document boxes, individual live files, architectural plans, drawings
and maps.

The entire 42 acre site, situated 100 feet underground, is constructed from
Bath stone and provides clients with the ultimate protection for their
records, with a naturally stable all year round environment maintained to
BS5454 specifications, no influences from the outside elements, no risk of
fire, flood or theft, tailored private or shared client vaults, and all
offered with the added security of Government authorisation and security
cleared staff.

However, the Monkton Farleigh facility also has a fascinating history and
offers an insight into days gone by. The vast area was originally created
from the excavation of Bath Stone in the early 1800’s and, following its
acquisition by the government in the 1930’ s, was later developed into the
single largest ammunition store in Europe during the Second World War.

To celebrate their 50th Anniversary, Wansdyke Security Limited will be
holding an Open Day on Friday 9th July 2004 and, as a member of the RMS,
Wansdyke would like to invite members of the Society to join them. The day
will consist of a presentation with a comprehensive site visit and tour of
the facility at Monkton Farleigh, followed by a three course lunch. Various
options are available to delegates attending, including accommodation with
the opportunity to enjoy the many splendours of the Georgian City of Bath.

Numbers will be limited to a maximum of 20, so bookings will be taken on a
first come, first served basis. So why not take the opportunity to further
explore the unrivalled benefits that the Monkton Farleigh secure underground
storage facility offers, whilst delving into the history of Bath Stone
excavation and the secret underground city that existed during World War Two
Britain.

Please contact field trip organiser, Paul Duller ([log in to unmask])
in the first instance, to book your place.

Best Wishes,
