Christina,
I sent a private message telling the people who sent the newsletter that a
monthly newsletter with text in the email was helpful (not just a link). I
found that newsletter helpful since knowing about what is happening with
products I may not necessarily use can be useful to others who ask me for
information. As a software user, info about different products help me think
about my own decisions and strategies. I do not find those newsletters a
form of spam (at the moment). Since the senders of those newsletters are
also subscribers, we can always monitor how they behave, the same way we try
to monitor or self-monitor ourselves.

Dear all
in response to the interesting discussions re the use of qual-software for
disseminating software developer news letters etc. We at the CAQDAS
netowrking project are currently discussing this and reviewing the various
options and will get back to you all with a policy statement soon....
however... it would be useful to have a broader idea of people's opinions on
this - the list is for software users - so those of you who haven't yet
commented...what do you all think...? let us know thanks Christina

The alternative is to subscribe to lots of lists and get even more email.
Just being notified of a URL would be helpful and not burdensome . . .
