Dear Colleague
Multi-Service Networks 2004: Invitation to participate
------------------------------------------------------
This year's meeting is approaching and as usual it will be held at The
Cosener's House in Abingdon. The date for this event is Thursday 8th and
Friday 9th July 2004.
The focus of the workshop remains the same as in previous years: the broad
area of multiservice networking. The event is intentionally kept informal
and research student presentations are particularly encouraged: there is a
prize of £50 as part of the Brendan Murphy Memorial for the best
presentation by a young researcher.
By popular demand we have retained what has become the traditional venue
over the years: however, numbers are limited. Places will be allocated on a
'first come first served' basis, though in case of over-subscription we may
have to limit numbers from individual institutions by applying the
three attendees per presentation rule.
The administration of the workshop is in transition to the Next
Generation Networking EPSRC network, and Ian Wakeman and Linda Kennedy
from Sussex are learning the Tao of Cosener's from the feet of Chris
Cooper and Hilda Cook. Ian and Linda are therefore the contact points
for this year.
The charge for attendance is £140 per delegate with one night bed and
breakfast accommodation, or £100 per delegate without accommodation. As last
year, there is a student delegate price of £100 with one night bed and
breakfast accommodation, for those studying full-time for an MSc, MPhil,
PhD, or equivalent degree. Lunch on both days and a special function dinner
on Thursday 8th July is included. We request that payment is settled before
attendance, and a registration form is attached herewith. Please print as
required and return to Linda Kennedy with payment.
Please will you let Linda Kennedy or Ian Wakeman know who will be attending
from your institution, and the preliminary details of talk(s) (speaker and
proposed title/topic) being offered. As usual, the guideline for talks is 20
minutes. Shorter progress/status reports on activities or plans of general
interest to the community are also welcome.
There is a web page for this year's meeting:
<http://www.informatics.sussex.ac.uk/ngn/msn04.php> and this will be used
to provide details of the programme as it is developed: at present it
only has the date, venue, registration form, travel and contact
details.
As last year, computer projection facilities will be available and will be
the preferred mode of presentation; an OHP will also be available.
Proceedings will be published on the web and in paper form after the
meeting. Presentation source (PowerPoint, Word, PDF, or PS) should be sent
to Ian Wakeman by 2nd July for pre-loading onto a PC for projection (and
subsequent inclusion in the proceedings).
We look forward to hearing from you.
With best wishes,
Ian Wakeman ([log in to unmask])
Linda Kennedy ([log in to unmask])
