Senior Lecturer in Sociology
The University of Limerick is seeking to appoint a Senior Lecturer in
Sociology, with a particular focus on the Sociology of Health and Illness.
This permanent post, tenable from 2nd January 2005 or as soon as possible
thereafter, arises from the expansion of teaching and research in Sociology
in general, and the Sociology of Health and Illness in particular.
It is expected that the person appointed to this post will have a doctorate
in Sociology; considerable achievements in the field of the Sociology of
Health and Illness including an established research and publications record
and appropriate teaching experience at undergraduate and postgraduate level.
Applications are particularly welcome from those whose areas of expertise
include the sociology of health care and health professionals.
The appointee will be required to maintain an active research and
publication profile; to supervise PhD students; and as the holder of a
senior post in Sociology, will be expected to provide leadership in
promoting research and teaching in Sociology in general, and in the
Sociology of Health and Illness in particular in the University and in the
wider community. The person appointed will have special responsibility for
the development of courses for students in the health professions including
nursing studies. They may also be involved in the development and delivery
of other courses at graduate and undergraduate level, particularly in the
area of the Sociology of Health and Illness.
Salary Scale: €63,164 - €83,256 p.a.
