Finnish Academy PhD Studentship at the Department of Sociology, University
of Warwick
Globalisation and citizens in healthcare: Exploring the role of users,
choice and markets in European health systems
Applications are invited for a 3 year PhD studentship funded jointly by the
Finnish Academy and the Finnish Ministry of Health and Social Welfare. The
student will to start 1 September 2004 and be based at the Department of
Sociology, University of Warwick but will spend part of the time over the 3
years at STAKES (Finnish National Research and Development Centre for
Welfare and Health) in Helsinki. The studentship includes tuition for 3
years and an annual stipend of € 23,000 (for further information and how

The student will formally be supervised by Dr Jonathan Tritter but will be
a key member of the research team and will play a central role in the work
of the research and participate in all scholarly activities associated with
the project.
