Dear Victoria
Yes please! I will leave it to you to select the best ones! Perhaps you
could send a few and then it will be possible to choose photos to
complement each other from the various schools who submit them. Once
photos are selected, I will send out the permission slips.
Many thanks for your help.
Best wishes
Katharine

>>===== Original Message From Mandarin Chinese Teaching
><[log in to unmask]> =====
>>Dear All
>>
>>I am writing to tell you about the project to develop a Chinese set of
>>webpages on the Specialist Schools Trust website. These pages will be
>>called The Chinese Network. There will be news from schools teaching
>>Chinese, news of events, sharing and exchange of teaching resources (an
>>opportunity for teachers to upload and download lesson plans and
>>resources), weblinks, pupils' pages etc.
>>
>>The Network will complement the ALL e-mail forum, which I would say has
>>been well used over the last few weeks for discussion. The Network's
>>main focus will be on the teaching of Chinese as a foreign language in
>>secondary schools, but it will aim to be as inclusive as possible and so
>>will also cover community schools, FE, AE, HE and primary education.
>>
>>I am working on behalf of the Trust to develop these pages (not, I
>>hasten to add, the technical side, but the content!). I hope they will
>>be lively, useful and a valuable resource for all those involved in the
>>teaching of Chinese. However, I will need lots of ideas and input from
>>everyone.
>>
>>In the first instance, I have the following requests:
>>
>>1. The name for the webpages in English will be Chinese Network. I
>>thought that the Chinese name could be zhong1wen2wang3. However, I would
>>welcome feedback on this. If anyone has any different ideas or
>>suggestions or agrees with my proposal, then all feedback is very
>>welcome. Finding the best name at the outset is very important!
>>
>>2. As far as I understand at the moment, the header of each webpage will
>>have a photograph and there will be a couple of smaller photographs down
>>the side of each page (these photos will be the same on each page; there
>>won't be different photos on each page). I think the smaller photographs
>>will be a semi-permanent feature of each page and that the header
>>photograph will be changed regularly.
>>
>>Do any of you have any suitable photographs? It would be good to have
>>pictures of learners involved in some exciting activity in the classroom
>>or putting their learning into action in China. Any digital pictures
>>any of you could send me would be great. The Trust has an official
>>permission slip which I would need to ask you to get the parents of any
>>children on photographs selected for use on the site to sign.
>>
>>3. I will be starting to collect material for the pages very soon, but
>>in the first instance, it would be very useful if you could come back to
>>me with any ideas of what you would like to see on the site over and
>>above the sub-headings I mentioned above.
>>
>>We are lucky to have a good communications network set up already, so I
>>intend to use it to ensure that the Chinese Network pages are as useful
>>for everyone as possible!
>>
>>I look forward to hearing from you all.
>>
>>Best wishes
