Department of Health
Policy Research Programme
Invitation to Tender
Patient Reported Outcomes Measurement System in
Treatment Centres
The Department of Health through its Policy Research
Programme is
inviting
tenders for a two-phase research project to support the
development of a
patient reported outcomes measurement system in NHS and
independent
sector
Treatment Centres (NHS/IS TCs).
Treatment Centres provide day and short-stay surgery in
dedicated units
and
can be run by the NHS or by the independent sector.
The first phase of this requirement is to review
international evidence
on
the use of patient reported health outcomes measures
(PROMs), focusing
in
particular on settings relevant to NHS/IS TCs, and to make
recommendations
concerning candidate measures for piloting in phase two.
Detailed
proposals for this review are now invited.
The second phase of this requirement is to pilot and
evaluate a system
for
routine and cost effective use of PROMs in NHS/IS TCs.
Outline
proposals
only are invited now.
Separate proposals are required for each phase. Applicants
may submit
proposals for either or both phases of the requirement. It
is intended
that the design of the pilot and evaluation phase will be
informed by
the
results of the phase one review and that applicants
shortlisted for
phase
two will be asked to prepare detailed proposals when these
results
become
available.
We expect phase one to be completed within 4-6 months and
that phase two
will then be funded for a 12-15 month period.
Further details and an application form can be
obtained by sending
an
e-mail to:
