Dear colleagues,
I am failing to find any substantial information about 'German English'. By
this I do NOT mean 'Denglisch' (about which there is copious information)
which is used between German speakers, an which is largely German syntax but
which contains varying numbers of items which are perceived to be 'English'.
Rather than this I mean the language variety used by German-speakers when
they address English-speakers (or speakers of other languages who know
English) and which (unlike Denglisch) can clearly be seen as a variety of
English, but with certain characteristics. I can't find any publications on
this topic.
Can anybody help? I fear I may be missing something obvious or well known.
Yours
Stephen Barbour
