offer Spring and Summer School programs in Russian Studies
The Center of International Education “Russian Studies” was founded to
provide educational services for foreign citizens in English and Russian
Languages in the following areas: Political Science, Sociology, Religious
Studies, History, Jurisprudence, Anthropology, according to foreign
educational standards (the system of credits).
There are Bachelor and Master level programs. The Center also conducts
SPRING AND SUMMER SCHOOL PROGRAMS (from 2 to 6 weeks) (Educational programs
“Socio-Political and Intellectual Life of Russia at the XX - XXI Centuries”,
“Post-Soviet World: the origins and contemporary condition”), and other
educational programs according to the foreign partners’ requests.
Educational part of the Program includes approximately 48 hours (duration –
3 weeks – equivalent of 3 credit hours).
FALL AND WINTER SCHOOL PROGRAMS are organized at a time suitable for
students, from September to February, period – from 1 to 4 weeks. The
training of students for one semester is also possible.
The Center hosts groups of students and visiting scholars. Classes start
when the groups are formed. The number of scholars (students) in one group
may vary from one person (individual schooling) to 40 scholars (students).
THE STATE CERTIFICATE OF THE HERZEN STATE PEDAGOGICAL UNIVERSITY OF RUSSIA
is awarded according to the results of the training.
Since the Center’s foundation (1999), students from the University of
Hong-Kong (PRC, 2000), USA (2001), Finland (2001), USA (2001-2003) have
studied there.
Each of the programs of Spring-Summer and Autumn-Winter Schools’ Programs
includes EDUCATIONAL and CULTURAL-EDUCATIONAL components. The latter
includes visit to St.-Petersburg’s power structures (City Hall and the
Legislative Assembly of Saint-Petersburg); kindergartens and schools,
churches of different religious affiliations, museums, theatres, concert
halls; participation in excursions around Saint-Petersburg and its suburbs;
visit other cities (Novgorod and etc.).
The program “Russian Studies” proposes studying Russian society’s life
diversity, its culture, history of the Russian nation from ancient times to
the present, the peculiarities of political and economic life, law system,
religions, public awareness, sociological views and ethnical-cultural
processes.
Tuition required.
THE PRICE OF THE PROGRAM INCLUDES THE FOLLOWING:
1) educational section (classes, workshops);
2) cultural program;
3) the service of the interpreters during the whole stay in
St.Petersburg
4) accommodation in the Herzen University’s Hotel;
5) meals;
6) visa supports;
7) transportation;
8) Certificates of the Herzen University.
At the requests the Center may change each element of the Program: time of
the Program events (excursions, trips) and educational topics. The Center is
open for discussion and suggestions.
