Contemporary Writing Environments, Brunel University, West London, 8-10th July
2004
The Brunel Centre for Contemporary Literature (BCCL) is hosting an international
conference from the 8th-10th July 2004 at Brunel's West London campus entitled
"Contemporary Writing Environments".
Agreed speakers include Sarah Waters, Charles Bernstein, Thomas Docherty, Dennis
Walder, Nicholas Royle and Julian Wolfreys, representing many of the major
names in the field. All aspects of contemporary writing, where it finds itself
today, where it comes from, and where it is heading, will be under debate in
twelve carefully selected panels. These will cover everything from
Ecocriticism to digital poetics, and everywhere from East London to South Asia.
This promises to be an essential event in the continuing appraisal of our
contemporary literatures and their role in 21st century culture.
Advance registration has now been extended until June 4th at the special price
of 60 pounds for the three days. You may also register on the day at a cost of
75 pounds for the three days. Single day passes are also available as are
discount rates for students and the unwaged. Full details of how to book and a
detailed programme are available at www.brunel.ac.uk/depts/eng/contemp.htm
The event will coincide with a number of fascinating readings from practitioners
in the field of innovative poetics, including a series of readings during the
conference. Again, full details are available at the Contemporary Writing
Environments web page which will be continually updated.
