There are places available for PhD studies in the Department of Computer
Science at the University of Bath, to begin from academic year 2004-5.
Up to 6 scholarships are available to cover fees and an annual stipend.
Candidates should have at least a 2.1 undergraduate degree or an MSc,

The Department supports an extensive programme of world-leading research in
Human Computer Interaction. Our research interests are pursued in
fundamental theoretical developments and in a range of application areas.
Our HCI research includes interaction modelling, theories and methods for
evaluating user interfaces, safety-critical systems, distributed
interaction, participatory design, mobile and pervasive computing,
computer-supported cooperative work, computer-mediated communication,
context awareness, creativity, and cognitive information processing in
interactive systems.
Active application areas include aircraft flight deck design and evaluation,
healthcare informatics and telemedicine, collaborative virtual environments,
urban design, e-commerce, groupware, and generation of help and explanation
facilities. Staff members include Anne Bruseberg, Jo Hyde, Hilary Johnson,
Peter Johnson, Robin Law, Aisling Martin, Eamonn O'Neill, Ahmed Reeves, Leon
Watts and Peter Wild.
