All,
This appears to affect KAPPA, FIGARO and POLPACK only. It is not a bug in
IRAFSTAR. The IRAF help files are included in each of the packages. So I
think this bug is for David B (KAPPA, POLPACK) and Malcolm (FIGARO).
I will tell the user that a fix should be available shortly?
Steve.

Summary: Bugs in some helpdb.mip files (help for Starlinl
packages under Iraf)
Product: IRAFSTAR
Version: unspecified
Platform: PC
OS/Version: Linux
Status: NEW
Severity: normal
Priority: P2
Component: IRAFSTAR

Hi,
I've recently installed the Starlink Software Colletion
for Linux RedHat 9.0, Summer 2003.
Following instructions in the INSTALL document,
section 6, I've also enabled use of Starlink packages
from Iraf.
However, help appears to be unavailable or broken
in packages: figaro, kappa and polpack.
For instance, if after loading figaro in iraf I type help,
I get:
Warning: Cannot open file (reaxp04.roe.ac.u!/acd/acd/iraf/figaro.men)
Inspection of the helpdb.mip file indeed shows:
so> hdbexam helpdb=figaro$helpdb.mip
Help database figaro$helpdb.mip created Apr 30 12:08 by invsoft1, size=13656
Total of 240 modules in 4 packages
Nov 5 2001 _index.figaro$helpdb.mip
_figaro Nov 5 2001 reaxp04.roe.ac.u!/acd/acd/iraf/_figaro.hd
figaro Nov 5 2001 reaxp04.roe.ac.u!/acd/acd/iraf/figaro.hd
root Nov 5 2001 root.hd
Similar inconsistencies are found for kappa and polpack.
Help looks OK for pongo, gaia and ccdpack.
Is there any patch available (for Linux and for Solaris 9,
which I've installed but not tested yet)?
Many thanks
Nicola Caon
