* Urgently Require Elective Placement - UK - 31st May to 25th June *

I was wondering if anyone could help me. I have recently found out that my final elective physiotherapy placement has had to be cancelled due to staffing problems and I have been desperately trying to locate another placement around the UK without any success.

I am a 26 year old final year undergraduate physiotherapy student at the University of Nottingham. We have completed all of our assessed clinical placements and almost all of our teaching except 2 option modules (which Im doing acupuncture and paediatrics). To complete the course we do a final 4 week elective placement in June to make up the 1000 clinical hours required to qualify and graduate on the 7th July 2004.

I was initially hoping to use my elective opportunity to gain experience in an area I have not had chance to see yet such as Burns and Plastics, Learning Disabilities, Mental Health or Complimentary Therapies. I am also very interested in theatre, dance and TV and would love to gain experience in a placement that works within these fields.

However, I have thoroughly enjoyed all my eight placements to date, for which I have been marked highly, and given my need to graduate is greater at this late stage I would be more than happy to revisit any of my previous areas which were Acute Respiratory, Neurology Outpatients, Spinal and Peripheral outpatients, Paediatrics, Integrated Medicine, Community and Orthopaedics. Also if there are any other placements I have not mentioned I would be more than willing to consider them.

The elective can be based in the NHS or the private sector. The placement itself is not formally assessed, only requiring brief feedback to be completed at the end of the placement. The nature of the placement may also vary from us being allowed to treat patients under the supervision of a qualified member of staff or acting as an observer in a specialised area where it would be unsuitable for an unqualified person to treat a patient. However if possible it is also considered that as we are at the end of our course and about to become Juniors that we would be able to provide useful assistance to your departments.

If you would be prepared to consider taking on a third year student I would be extremely grateful to hear from you. I was particularly looking for placements in or around London, Bristol, Bath, Leeds, Edinburgh, Manchester and Birmingham so that I could reduce my accomodation costs and stay with friends as well as have good transport links, however I would be willing to consider all offers.

If possible please contact me directly by email without replying to the entire group.

Many thanks for your time and I hope someone is able to help.

Yours faithfully
