Hi Filip,
Indeed, a 64-bit address space will greatly increase the upper limit,
provided sufficient memory is put in the machine.
I intend to build a dual opteron machine next month, which will be used
for 64-bit development. Since yesterday I also have a Mac G5 (dual 1.8).
Once everything is up and running, I'll post some Ox benchmarks in
comparison with a 2.8 Pentium IV. At this stage, this will be 32-bit
using one processor.
Now that Intel has announced that it will develop a Pentium with the AMD
64 extensions (not using those words, of course), we have shelved plans
to develop an Itanium version of Ox (at least for now).
