NRICH values the views of our users so we are very supportive of this
research project and would appreciate any help you can give.

Jennifer Piggott (NRICH Project Director)
----

I am an MPhil student at the Cambridge University Faculty of Education. I
am interested in pupils’ attitudes towards mathematics enrichment, and in
particular, attitudes towards NRICH. I wonder whether you could help me in
my research project.

I am looking for two schools (primary or secondary) that make frequent use
of NRICH material, either in class, or as extra-curricular activities, in
which I can carry out a two-phase research project in May. It would be best
if both of these phases could take place in the same schools, but I would
be most happy to hear from any school that would be willing to take part in
either phase.

The first phase involves informal paired interviews with a small number of
pupils about their experience of NRICH. This could take place over one or
two days. Naturally, I would ensure that my presence causes the minimum of
disturbance, and so would be happy to discuss the timing and length of
these interviews with interested schools.

The second phase involves a wider questionnaire survey of students about
their experience of NRICH. I will ensure that enough questionnaires are
duplicated and sent to each participating school. These could then be
completed at the schools’ convenience during (the latter part of) May. To
get the ideal sample size, I would like a return of 50 or more
questionnaires from each school, but again, I would be happy to hear from
any interested school.

If your school could help me with any of the above, or if you know of any
schools that might, please let me know, either by e-mail ([log in to unmask])
or by letter at the address below. It would be most helpful if you could
give me a contact name and telephone number (or address). I would be happy
to discuss the details of the research with any interested school before
proceeding with the research. Thank you very much.
