Project studentship available
Applications are sought for a project studentship on mobile learning to
be located in the newly established Centre for Research in Education and
Educational Technology in the Open University. The studentship will be
located within the Computers and Learning Research Group, in the
Institute of Educational Technology, where mobile learning is a fast
developing area.
There have recently been significant developments in mobile
technologies, resulting in devices that combine telephone and wireless
internet connection with some of the functionality of personal
computers. Such devices also support two factors recognized as being
vitally important for learning: ownership of learning and learning in
context. The successful applicant for this project studentship will
investigate the use of one or more commercial devices to support the
learning of Science in context and in an informal (i.e. non
institutional) setting.
The successful candidate will join our '1+3' postgraduate programme,
studying for an MSc in Research Methods in Educational Technology in
their first year and, if successful, continuing on to a 3 year PhD
