Management, Work and Organization in Postsocialist Societies
Papers are invited on all aspects of work and employment, industrial
relations, and management transformations in China, the former Soviet
Union, Eastern Europe and other former socialist countries. Contributions
towards theoretical development will also be encouraged. Keynote speakers
will address the future of management research into postsocialist societies.

Andras Toth (Hungarian Academy of Sciences)
Accepted papers will be allocated one of the following streams:
Transforming Ownership and Management Structures
Organizational Forms and Inter-organizational Relationships
Labour Market Changes and Reforming Enterprise Welfare
Industrial and Labour Relations
The Realities of Work
Gender and Work
Informal or ‘Shadow’ Economy
Theorizing Postsocialist Management
There will also be a doctoral stream, and papers from PhD students are
especially welcome.

The PhD Colloquium to be sponsored by the Society for the Advancement of
Management Studies.
Thanks to the generous assistance of SAMS we are able to offer free full
registration (including accommodation and meals) to twenty PhD students
with the most promising papers accepted into the PhD stream. We therefore
strongly encourage PhD students who are researching topics relevant to our
conference to submit abstracts of papers.
Publications:
We anticipate the publication of some of the articles from the conference
in a Special Issue of International Journal of Human Resource Management.

Conference submission: An abstract of 500 words should be submitted by 30
April 2004. Authors of accepted abstracts will be notified in April/May.
Deadlines for full text of accepted papers is 31 July 2004.
