JOB AT CITY UNIVERSITY
Post: Lecturer/Researcher in Sociology and Social care
Department: Applied Psycho-Social Sciences School: Nursing and
Midwifery Grade: Lecturer A/B (depending upon qualifications and
experience) Tenure: 1 year fixed term contract Responsible to: Head of
Department
Main Responsibilities This post consists of two parts:
0.5 - to work with the Senior Lecturer in Social Work on the project :
Developing links with social work agencies in 8 London boroughs in North East London
to foster and promote interprofessional research and education at City
University.0.5 - to teach students of nursing, midwifery and other health and social
care professions in a variety of professional and interprofessional
programmes to an agreed number of contact hours.
MAIN DUTIES: Research and Development: Participate in the mapping of local
expertise and interests in the social work sector in North East London, and the
development of an interprofessional network between researchers, teachers,
health and social care practitioners. Contribute to the development of the
departmental research strategy. Teaching and Learning: Teach sociology/social policy
and as appropriate, research methods on a range of School programmes in a
variety of settings up to an agreed number of contract hours. Contribute towards
the development of innovative teaching and learning strategies in
interprofessional health and social care programmes at pre and post qualifying levels.
Development of External Profile: Engage in School or Department-related
activities in publishing, delivery of conference papers, committee work as necessary to
promote the academic reputation of the Department and School in health and
