medieval-religion: Scholarly discussions of medieval religion and culture
(Cross-posted to mediev-l, medieval-religion, and medtext-l)
As a guess, this datum might stem from one of the more popular later
medieval ancient histories related to the "romans d'antiquité," e.g. the
_Histoire ancienne jusqu'a' César_ or the _Faits des Romains_. Perhaps the
index of Catherine Croizy-Naquet, _Ecrire l'histoire romaine au début du
XIIIe siecle: L'histoire ancienne jusqu'a' César et Les faits des
Romains_ (Paris: Honoré Champion, 1999) would be a good place to begin if
one were pursuing this line of thought. Best, John Dillon
