Partly solved the CD has no Wetlands GIS.exe file on it!
Always read the label!
Do B&Nes IT section charge £50.00 every time it doesn't install?
Can I have the job? Are there any wetlands, at the moment, in B&NES?
Thank You

Dear all
I've got a brand new computer that runs Windows XP and it wont run on
my machine! Even if it could I would have to pay our IT people £50
pounds to install it!
I blame English Heritage I am afraid. They should have specified that
the project was delivered in an appropriate format, which I take to be
either Archview or MapInfo. I find it bizarre to say the least that a
bespoke GIS appears has been used! And I say that in full knowledge of
Dominic Powesland's excellent contributions to Spatial analysis in
archaeology. However, to headline this project as "A wetlands GIS for
Planners and development control in archaeology" is surely a joke.
I note from the covering letter from David Miles that English Heritage
would welcome feedback and comment so I suggest that a few letters to Mr
Miles may make a useful contribution to the scoping of future EH funded
projects (possibly). We have all seen this so many times; the Portable
Antiquities database, the defence of Britain, MARS and so on.
My disk will just gather dust along with many others. Waste of money
indeed.
But hey, the sun is shining, the weekend beckons and the bluebells will
be in full bloom. Let's toast the absurdities of working for a living!
:-)
Bob
