Research Fellowship in
Siberian Ethnohistory
The Department of Anthropology, University of Aberdeen is looking for an
anthropologist, ethnologist, or historian to work for three years on an
AHRB-funded project entitled 'Archival and Living Transcripts in Eastern
Siberia'. The candidate should have a PhD in history, anthropology, or
ethnology (or have substantial working experience) and must have excellent
Russian language skills. The position, starting in July 2004, would involve
analyzing historical texts in provincial and central Russian archive
collections which are important to the way that aboriginal Siberian
identities are articulated today. The duties of the fellow would also
involve drafting and publishing original research on Siberian ethnohistory,
and organizing several local and one international colloquia on the topic.
The project may involve travel to Moscow, St. Petersburg, and Eastern
Siberia for substantial periods of time, which would be paid for by the
project..
Starting salary is at RA1A point 8
23,643 pounds ($43,000 USD) depending on experience. Interested candidates
