Dear Lindsay
The DfES guidance document for providers of teacher training refers to a
range of legislation which is pertinent to the requirement for CRB
checking. The main ones are the Police Act of 1997, Protection of Children
Act 1999 and the Criminal Justice and Court Services Act 2000. The latter
lays out the definition of a 'regulated position' ie. those required to
apply for a Disclosure.
Perhaps your relevant professional/regulatory bodies may provide similar
guidance. Alternatively the DfEs guidance is available from their website
and could be used as a starting point.
