Hello to all, hope you all had a good Easter.
Part of my remit is to work with the PALS team in identifying good quality
consumer health information to pass onto patients/service users. Last
Thursday I had a request from the PALS team to provide information on
myeloid leukaemia, which I did, using information from the CancerBacup and
NHSDirect Online sites. I presented the information in much the same way as
I present information to clinicians, but removed my contact details from the
form and added a disclaimer stating that any queries should be directed
towards a clinician.
I was just wondering if any other clinical librarians out there are
providing a service to PALS teams or providing information that is made
directly available to patients? Is there any particular way in which you do
it?
I don't expect this to be a large part of my job, and the PALS team will
filter anything that I send through to them, but I am very conscious that I
could be providing too much or little information to people in very
sensitive situations.
