2.1 ALT Conference Publications Editor
The ALT Conference Publications Portfolio currently includes the ALT-
C Abstracts Book and Research Proceedings, and is being expanded to
produce, where possible, an annual practitioner-oriented publication
related to the ALT Spring Conference. ALT has recently moved to in-
house management of ALT-C, offering opportunities for redesign of the
conference portfolio, including related material and documents that
are presented to delegates as part of the conference pack and
orientation.
An ALT Conference Publications Editor is sought to work with the
Conference and Research Publications Teams, and the Occasional
Publications Editor, on the management of this portfolio. This will
include specific liaison regarding the conference handbook, and
working with the ALT-C Editors for Abstracts and the Editor for
Research proceedings to 'sub-edit' in the ALT house style.

2.2 ALT-J: call for papers on assessment
Papers are invited for inclusion in the next issue of ALT-J, which
will be focusing on assessment. Papers are invited under the
following themes:

* Reporting
* Innovation in CAA
* Assessing skills and enhancing student learning
* Strategic developments

6. Invitations to tender
6.1 Social Care Institute for Excellence (SCIE)
As part of a new sector-wide e-learning programme for social care,
the Social Care Institute for Excellence (SCIE) is seeking bids for a
short study on its e-learning repository requirements. The study will
identify SCIE's needs for the effective storage and delivery of e-
learning objects, identify what options are available, and make
recommendations for the optimum solution/s.
It is anticipated that approximately 7-10 days' work will be
required, and a finished report is required by 25 June 2004.

6.2 JISC
...Invitation to Tender to commission the creation of a staff
development "cookbook", which draws together all the requirements for
staff development being identified as part of the JISC-funded
Exchange for Learning Programme (X4L) into a single, coherent source
of information. The "cookbook" will offer practical advice and
guidance on e-learning staff development provision in the post-16
community.
Funding of up to £30,000 (including VAT and expenses) is available
for this work in the first instance. The deadline for proposals is 12
