Am I the only one who finds it odd that it is *very* hard to find an
easy to install stand-alone GridFTP client? The only two I have been
able to get anyone to point me to are:
http://mail.ustc.edu.cn/~fzheng/gftp.html
http://dims.ncsa.uiuc.edu/set/uberftp/
The first came out two weeks ago, the second requires the headaches of
GPT. I suppose (although I'm not 100% sure) that "globus-url-copy" is
an annoying name for the original Globus "gridftp"? But that also
requires the patience to deal with GPT, and probably root access to install.
In fact, it appears to be impossible to install the "latest" grid-ftp
package from Globus, since I've installed GT3, however my GT3 install
does not appear to have given me a grid-ftp client that I can use.
It just doesn't seem like it needs to be this complicated.
