Sorry. I did mean to do that (SSN78 was clear) but what I am doing is
committing all the original source code first as a reference point,
tagging it, and then doing a cvs remove on all the files we don't need. I
forgot to remove the fac and err files last night.

Hmm. So you want to build the tests without using the _link script shipped
with the tests? That was working for me (although I have to make sure the
_link script is +x - which I haven't been able to work out for files that
are generated from a .in file). Surely the test should be testing the
_link script as well as the library?

I'm happy for the generated files to be out of CVS. This won't affect
building of tarballs. [there will presumably be an equivalent target at
the top level for creating a load of tar balls - we may want to call the
packages starlink-ref, starlink-nbs etc when we make the tar balls]
