As far as I recall, this was all before the days of X-windows, let alone
the Web, so Mike's files were the only way for users to peruse the
Starlink info and hence 80-col issues probably did matter.
Incidentally, I would find it surprising if he ever reused numbers from
documents that were not perceived as definitely gone for ever. Remind me
what the recent examples are where this has turned out not to be true?
