Pamela shared: I suppose it is the way of the world where there are few
givers and lots of taker.
Regular contributors,
Another side-line viewer here. I am a member of three lists. All are
involved with the helping/counseling field. This list, by far, is the
most interesting, intelligent and, dare I say it, honorable. These are
the reasons I continue to stay. they also contribute to why I seldom
share.
I appreciate the information shared here as much as I enjoy the humor
and honesty. There are days when reading a light banter between
regulars helps the day appear hopeful. When sources, experiences or
opinions are relayed I learn a bit more. The intelligence and
experience is not enough. It is an open-mindedness that allows for
variances of theories, opinions, likes and dislikes that remind me that
I am not alone in wanting a more supportive community, and so, world. I
believe the diversity of geographical participants is an integral part
of this whole.
If nothing else, contributors please know, I, and others are
supporters. Though we may not share directly, we do share
energetically. The 'takers' could be seen as those who are not able to
accept diversity, look out for themselves with little concern for
others and would not waste their email space with the likes of this
kind of list energy.
A last bit of idealism: I see myself as one who, both here and in other
communities that I am a part of, is not giving up on the possibility
and probability of a healthy, caring and supportive world. By listening
in I learn, by taking chances (like contributing) I experience, by
staying connected I am reminded that I am a part of a greater whole. We
may be a small group in relation to our world but I believe there are
other eclectic groups out there online, in schools, out in nature and
in neighborhoods. Each are part of the hundredth monkey theory of
change.
take care,
