The European Journal of Operational Research (EJOR) will publish a feature
issue on real-life applications of metaheuristics. The editorial policy of
the EJOR is to publish high quality, original papers that contribute to the
methodology of operational research and to the practice of decision making.
Metaheuristics are used ever more often as effective tools to aid decision
makers in solving large-scale, complex problems. Research however has
focused mainly on classical, academic problems and much less on real-life
problems and practical applications. The aim of this feature issue is to
collect state-of-the art papers that discuss the application of
metaheuristic optimisation to real or realistic problems.
The feature issue will focus on the following topics:
* actual implementations of metaheuristics in real-life situations;
* solution methods and modelling techniques for so-called rich models,
incorporating non-standard constraints
* practical problems involved when implementing metaheuristics
*Deadline for submissions: April 7, 2004*
Approximate date of completion: October 2004.
The submitted papers must be original, not previously published or currently
under consideration for publication elsewhere. The format of manuscripts for
the European Journal of Operational Research can be found at:
http://www.elsevier.com/homepage/sae/orms/eor/menu.htm under 'Instructions
to Authors". Authors are asked to particularly take care of the English
level of their manuscript.
