The Journal of Social Policy Studies is preparing special issues on the
following themes:
-- Social policy and non-governmental organizations
-- Globalization and social policy
The deadline for submission is September 15, 2004.
The Journal of Social Policy Studies provides a forum for scholarly
discussion of different aspects of social policy in Russia and abroad.
By placing at the center of its analysis the issues of contemporary social,
economic, political and cultural transformations in post-socialist world as
well as the reasons and consequences of such changes, the Journal seeks to
integrate a wide range of disciplines.
To contribute to the development of social policy as an academic discipline
and to expand a cross-disciplinary research area in Russia, the journal will
publish scholarly papers written from critical perspectives, which will
analyze social
problems, reflect on the policy processes and rethink the impact of social
policies on inequalities.
The focus of articles ranges from macro-perspective of national and
international social policy to specific cases on regional and organizational
levels.
The JSPS publishes major articles, disciplinary review essays, book reviews,
and special sections, which involve various aspects of social policy
including associated teaching and learning issues.
In particular, the journal welcomes articles that integrate conceptual or
theoretical ideas with the use of empirical evidence. It could be an
original
article prepared especially for this journal as well as an already published
article, for which it could be possible to have a permission for translation
and publishing it in Russia. The journal takes on the responsibility of
translations from
English into Russian.
On average, papers should be between 5 000 and 8 000 words (no more than 10
000), with shorter 'think pieces' of between 2000 and 3000 words.
Keep notes to a minimum; number them typed as a list before the References
at the end of the manuscript.
References should be represented in the text by author and date
[typically: … as Gellner (1993) comments…, as demonstrated
(Reed, 1992; Alvesson, 1992)], and collated into an alphabetical and
date-order (double-spaced) list at the end of the manuscript, in the
following style:
Books. Shapiro, Michael J. Reading the Postmodern Polity: Political Theory
as Textual Practice. Minneapolis: University of
Minnesota Press.
Journal articles. Castles, Francis G. (2001) 'On the political economy of
recent public sector development', Journal of
European Social Policy 11(3): 195-212
Chapters in books. Murray, Charles (1997) 'A Proposal for Public Welfare',
in: T.A.Mappes, J.S.Zembaty (eds) Social Ethics:
Morality and Social Policy, pp.365-370. New York: The McGraw-Hill Companies.
The articles and a short, informative abstract of approximately 100 words,
with 6-8 key words should be sent by email to
