CALL FOR PAPERS
Resources for Feminist Research/Documentation sur la recherche féministe
Feminist Research with Children
Guest edited by Rachel Berman (Ryerson) and Nisha Karumanchery-Luik
(McMaster)
The Editorial Board of the RFR/DRF invites the submission of original
manuscripts for publication in an upcoming issue of the journal on Feminist
Research with Children.
The argument that little attention is paid by feminist researchers to
children can be refuted by looking to feminist research on children in the
classroom, children's literature, gender socialization, and childhood sexual
abuse. Nevertheless, even a cursory glance of texts on feminist research
reveals that children are not high on feminist researchers' agendas.
Additionally, of the feminist research that does involve children or
childhood, most is conducted on children rather than with or for children.
This issue is about shifting the discourse from feminist research on
children to feminist research with children. What does feminist research
with children look like? Where does feminist research with children need to
go?
Areas of focus could include: methodological concerns; children and work;
neo-conservative ideology and children; children as consumers; street
children; homelessness; adoption; constructions of childhood;
heteronormativity; children of lesbian or gay parents; children and
diversity; immigration and children; children and peers; children and
siblings; children living with AIDS; a review of feminist research and
children.
Manuscripts will be accepted in English or French. Length: 5000-7000 words.
Format: double-spaced. Style: Chicago Manual of Style, 14th ed. Name,
affiliation, and address to be included on a separate cover sheet. Please
remove all identifying references from the text. Send four hard copies of
the article, with a short (125 wd. max) abstract and bibliographical note,
and a copy on diskette, to:
