Research Assistant in Human Interaction
Salary up to £20,311 per annum plus £2,134 London Allowance, depending on
qualifications and experience.
Applications are invited for a research assistant to work under the
supervision of Dr Nicholas Bryan-Kinns, on an EPSRC funded project to
investigate Engaging Collaborations.
The aim of the work is to investigate features of human interaction which
contribute to mutual engagement in creative collaborations taking group
music improvisation as an exemplar domain. This will involve studying group
music improvisation in a conventional setting such as free jazz
improvisation, developing novel tools to supports new forms of improvisation
remotely, and studying the use of such forms of interaction and their effect
on levels of mutual engagement.
Candidates must have a Masters degree in Computer Science or equivalent
experience. In particular, the candidate should have experience of
developing novel interactive systems for performing music and experience of
quantitative and qualitative data collection and analysis techniques.
Candidates will be considered who have a subset of these skills and are keen
to develop the other required skills. In addition, candidates may have the
opportunity to study for a PhD in conjunction with this post.
