OH, come on!. We could complain about the need for further changes, more
money, more help from other specialties, more help from the PCTs, that the
drive to get an extra 4-5 % in the 4-hour target is going to be very
expensive and ,arguable, not cost-effective, but we cannot deny that things
have improved. We have been the main priority for the NHS for 1 year and
efforts and money have been put to change and improve things. If we are
going to ask for more improvements, money and help we need to be honest and
recognise what has been done already... if not nobody will take us seriously
when tell them that anything beyond 92-95 % is probably an unnecessary
effort and a waste of money.

Subject: Sir George does it again!
Have any list members had a chance to see Sir George's comments today about
our performance this winter? "This winter has been a success story for the
NHS. Through the extra investment the Government is putting into the NHS
and with new and more effective ways of working, we are managing the winter
pressures much more effectively". I certainly did not work in a department
that was or is a 'success' in managing the pressures. However, is it my
imagination, or did we not have a problem with flu this year? Comments from
the floor?
