University of Economics of Bratislava, 4-7th July 2004
COMPETITION OF YOUNG LATIN AMERICANISTS
The Organizational committee of the Congress together with the CEISAL
Managerial committee is inviting young scholars to participate in a
competition of scholarly studies focusing on Latin America.
RULES
1. Theme
1.1 The three best studies in the following areas will be awarded:
* Social sciences (politics, economy, sociology, human geography,
etc.)
* Humanities (archaeology, history, philosophy, philology, etc.)
* Natural sciences (ecology, environmental sciences, physical
geography, etc.)
1.2 The organizers will concentrate especially on the theme of Social
challenges of Latin America in the XXIst century contained in each of the
mentioned areas.
1.3 Interdisciplinary and multidisciplinary and comparative studies are
especially welcome.
2. Prizes (awards)
2.1 Three studies will be awarded by:
* diploma, delivered to awardees during the Congress inauguration
* financial reward (500EUR for the first prize, 300EUR for the
second prize, 200EUR for the third prize)
* publications of studies in the Congress monograph
2.2 Supposedly three prizes will be given. Possibly fewer studies or none
will be awarded, depending on their scholarly level.
3. The age of participants
Participants should be under thirty years of age before the deadline of
submitted studies
4. The deadline
March 31. 2004
5. Acceptance and presentation of studies
5.1 Accepted studies must fulfil the following criteria:
* original, elaborated by the Congress participants
* accepted as the contribution at a specific symposium
* written in one of the following languages: Spanish, Portuguese
or English
5.2 Studies should be submitted "in cognito" along with a sealed envelope
containing the personal data and sent to this address:

6. Technical criteria
6.1 Works have to be computer written, maximum 25 standard pages (30
lines)
6.2 Texts of awarded studies must also be submitted on diskette
7. Jury
The CEISAL Committee will appoint jury members
8. Results and awards
8.1 Results of the competition will be announced to the participants in
the first half of June 2004.
8.2 Official delivery of awards will take place on July 4. 2004 in
Bratislava during the Congress inauguration.
