Canada's National Plan of Action Draft Report Now Available On-Line
In December 2002, CACL was one of hundreds of organizations asked by the federal government to "imagine the Canada and the world you would like to see in the year 2010 from the perspective of the children who live in it." Since then, CACL has taken part in the government's extensive consultation on Canada's National Plan of Action for submission to the United Nations, and has urged the government at every opportunity to ensure that Canada's vision of a world fit for children is one that includes ALL children - particularly those children with intellectual disabilities.
Canada's National Plan of Action for Children is now available on-line at http://www.sen.parl.gc.ca/lpearson/ and Senator Pearson, Advisor on Children's Rights to the Minister of Foreign Affairs and Personal Representative of the PM to the Special Session on Children, has invited feedback for consideration before the final document is published next Spring. Written comments can be e-mailed to Andrea Khan at [log in to unmask] until Monday, January 23, 2004.
Over the next few weeks, CACL will be reviewing the draft report and preparing a response. To read CACL/Inclusion International's document, "A World Fit for All Children", please visit our web site or e-mail Monica Misra ([log in to unmask]) for a hardcopy.
