Thanks, yes. That's what I was trying to say. "Audience" being the current
case in point.

Agreed. As I said, I was not arguing for an "explosion" of properties, but
that we don't back ourselves into a corner where we try to force semantic
refinement relationships where non-exist.

Yes.

The entries in the DCMI registry do display the sub-property relations in
both directions, as it were. So see e.g.
http://dublincore.org/dcregistry/detailServlet?reqType=detail&item=http%3A%
2F%2Fpurl.org%2Fdc%2Felements%2F1.1%2Fdate
but (having just spent 10 minutes trying to get to that screen myself!) I'm
not sure that's the easiest interface for the non-initiate.
How about in http://dublincore.org/documents/dcmi-terms/ adding a section
after each property description that lists the sub-properties (as
hyperlinks to the description of those subproperties).
Actually, I just noticed that the hyperlinks _from_ the descriptions of the
sub-properties to the properties actually link to the term URI, so
following the link takes you out of the HTML doc to the RDF/XML doc. Would
it not be better if that link took me to the appropriate anchor elsewhere
in the HTML doc?
i.e. when I read in a human-readable doc that issued refines
http://purl.org/dc/elements/1.1/date, I want to go to a human-readable
description of that element, not find myself reading RDF/XML?
