Conference, Thursday 22 April
Chair: Dr Allison Littlejohn, University of Strathclyde
Keynotes
In the opening plenary Lorna M Campbell, Assistant Director of CETIS
(http://www.cetis.ac.uk), will explore the important role that digital
repositories and libraries will play in managing learning resources and
facilitating the development of pedagogically rich learning scenarios. She
will focus on the issue of changing culture and practice within the
institution and how our roles as teachers, educational developers,
information professionals, learning technologists and support staff are
likely to develop as these new technologies become embedded in
teaching practice.
The concluding keynote by Jan van Tartwijk, of the Universities of
Utrecht and Maastricht, will outline pedagogical uses of ePortfolios in
Dutch Higher Education.
Workshops
Interactive workshops will showcase current research in the use of digital
repositories and ePortfolios. These will feature the JISC Exchange for
Learning and Digital Libraries in the Classroom Initiatives, as well as
ePortfolio projects from the UK and the Netherlands.
Collaborative Research Seminar, Friday 23 April
Chair: Bas Cordewener, SURF.
This working seminar aims to allow researchers from the UK and the
Netherlands to further develop current thinking on digital repositories and
ePortfolios. Participants will evaluate progress in the use of technologies
and will share ideas for future developments. The aim of the seminar is
to produce research papers for publication. Participants must be active
in research and development in ePortfolios and digital repositories
(places will be limited, so book early).

Thursday 4 March 2004, 1000-1530
Bishop Burton College, Beverley, Yorkshire
Presenters: David Sugden, Dewsbury College; John Whalley,

class work (e.g. use of images in identification; recording GPS); the use
of presentation software; how other ‘office’ based software can be used
and how some can connect to the Internet. We will discuss how text
messaging is being used within the sector and explore one free, on-line
facility. Hardware (PDAs) will be provided.
