The direct link to our speech recognition comparison article is
available at http://www.dyslexic.com/database/articles/dicttech.html.
This goes through the issues with using speech recognition software in
detail.
The program I would recommend is Dragon NaturallySpeaking Preferred v7.
There is an International English version which works well with UK
accents.

program
Lilith,
Have a look at www.iansyst.co.uk
They have a section on Product Reviews and Comparisons where they review
speech recognition software. It's very good.
However, any quality speech recognition system should be able to adapt
to accents and should produce acceptable results for users who have
unusual speech patterns.
Best wishes,
Claire

Subject: U.K. voice recognition computer program
I am trying to help a friend living here in Nova Scotia, Canada. He
needs a voice recognition program which can understand his U.K. accent.
He purchased and used a local system which "went wonky." he assumes that
the program could not make out his pronunciation. Does anyone on this
list know where one would purchase compterized voice recognition systems
that can understand U.K. accents? Is there a company in England? Any
suggestions gratfully appreciated. Thanks, Lilith
