italian-studies: Scholarly discussions in any field of Italian studies
INTERNATIONAL CONFERENCE
THE VALUE OF LITERATURE IN AND AFTER THE SEVENTIES: THE CASE OF ITALY AND
PORTUGAL
11-13 March 2004, Utrecht University, Academiegebouw, 29 Domplein, Utrecht
Please see website for programme and registration form:

The aim of this international conference is to stimulate discussion about
the tension between national reality and international ideology in the
particular cases of Portugal and Italy. Participants will reflect on
subjects that point in two directions: the relation between literature and
culture during this period and their political and social context, and the
heritage of the seventies in contemporary literature.
To introduce the themes that will be debated during the conference the
following keynote speakers have been invited: the writers Eduarda Dionísio
and Enrico Palandri (University College London), and the critics Isabel
Pires de Lima (Universidade do Porto) and Robert Lumley (University College
London).
