This is a preliminary call for expressions of interest in attending a
major international conference in Yaounde, Cameroon, sponsored by the
International association for Community Development with the support
of the Government of Cameroon.
The conference will be on April 3-7 2004.
It will involve key note speakers, a range of workshop streams
including:
*gender rights and community development
*local government and community development#
*working with migrants
*working in situations of conflict
*community development in rural areas
*civil society and community development: the role of NGOs
and the oppportunity for both practice-based and academic inputs.
There will be project visits and local cutlural inputs. The last day
of the conference will be used in preparing a manifesto for the
African Union on the role of community development
A full programme will be available in April but this is an opportunity
both for individuals or groups to register their interest with us, to
seek funding for travel and accommodation, and to network this call
through to other groups and organisations which might be interested.
It is also an opportunity to make suggestions both for keynote
speakers, and for other workshop streams/themes before the programme
is finalised.
