Hi (apologies for cross-posting)
The deadline for Leeds University PhD Scholarship applications is next Friday 5 March. These are very competitive but they do offer an attractive option for high quality candidates. The awards pay full fees for UK/EU students plus a maintenance grant of £10,500. They are not 1+3 training awards but designed to support 3 year PhD research projects (i.e. most successful candidates will have relevant research training at MA level, although this is not an absolute requirement).
For further details contact Debbie Westmoreland as soon as possible ([log in to unmask]). More information and application forms are also available from: www.leeds.ac.uk/rds/schol/rp_schol/rp_extra.htm#urs
PS... you may have noticed that Leeds was not listed in the ESRC's announcement of 1+3 Quota awards. However, I can confirm that we do in fact have two 1+3 Quota awards for PhD candidates in 2004 and 2005 (plus one place for entry in open competition). Candidates wishing to apply are strongly advised to submit applications to us by 31 March 2004 (contact details as above [log in to unmask])
Best wishes
Dr Mark Priestley
