PhD stipend for research in 'the ethics of recognition'.
The Department of Philosophy and Centre for Research in Social
Inclusion (CSRI) at Macquarie University invites expressions of interest
from suitably qualified Australian and overseas students who wish to
pursue doctoral studies in the area: 'applying the ethics of
recognition'. A scholarship providing a stipend of A$18,484 per annum
tax exempt is available. In addition, a research assistantship may be
offered for occasional work arising from the CRSI's activities. For

Project Title: Applying the Ethics of Recognition
Project team: Dr Nicholas Smith, Dr Jean-Philippe Deranty, Dr Robert
Sinnerbrink.
Project: The project involves an examination of the normative
structure of recognitive relations and its relevance for understanding
contemporary issues of justice. The particular area in which the
ethics of recognition is applied will depend on the knowledge,
experience, and interests of the researcher. Possibilities include (but
are not limited to) inequality, violence, detention, ethnic and
religious conflicts, indigenous rights, poverty, and workplace
relations.
