Dear JISC-dev and E-Lib list colleagues.
It is hard to know what is the optimal action to take on the
basis of this straw poll:
JISC (509 on list): 7 responses
6 AGAINST continuing the AmSci cross-posts
(4 to the list, including Andy, 2 in email to me)
1 FOR continuing the AmSci cross-posts
(in email below)
E-LIB (750 on list): 1 response
1 FOR
(in email below)
It is probably a good empirical test of whether anyone is actually
*reading* any of my postings to propose the following:
As of Friday next week I will terminate all cross-postings to the
JISC list unless the number of responses by that date contains
more FOR the cross-postings than AGAINST.
(It is probably better to email them to me rather than to post them
to the list if they are just votes: I will quote them anonymously as
below. Reasons for or against to be shared with the list might be better
posted to the list.)
Those who wish to continue to see the cross-postings are invited
to join the American Scientist Open Access Forum by signing on at:
http://amsci-forum.amsci.org/archives/American-Scientist-Open-Access-Forum.html
For E-Lib I will wait to for a bigger sample, and if it too is negative
I will do the same.
