Dear Colleague,
I would like to inform you that we've recently set the date the next
National Child Development Study (NCDS) and 1970 British Cohort Study
(BCS70) 1-day workshop. This event, which is being organized jointly by the
Centre for Longitudinal Studies (CLS) (University of London Institute of
Education) and the Economic and Social Data Service (ESDS) (University of
Essex), will take place at the Institute of Education on Wednesday 31st
March 2004.
The workshop will include: an introduction to the cohort studies programme;
the design, coverage and methodology of the surveys; patterns of attrition
and their correlates in NCDS and BCS70; accessing the NCDS and BCS70 via
ESDS; an overview of the themes covered by the studies and how to link data
longitudinally; and a practical session in which participants get hands-on
experience of using small sub-sets of the cohort study data. A
non-refundable fee of £60 (£30 for HE students) includes a buffet lunch,
refreshments and all workshop documentation.
A copy of the provisional programme and booking form for this meeting are
available via the ESDS website (http://www.esds.ac.uk/news/ncds2004.asp).
