Hello all, (LTSN Technical and CETIS Metadata)
[This post might make more sense to the LTSN Tech people, there are a couple of
references at the end for folk who don't know what I mean by RLLOMAP, RDN/LTSN etc]
I've taken a first pass at encoding the RDN/LTSN resource type vocabulary in
VDEX, you can see the results here
http://www.icbl.hw.ac.uk/vdex/examples/rdnltsnresourcetype1_0.xml
As far as I can tell it is valid XML: I'm told it validates in XML Spy, and
http://www.w3.org/2001/03/webdata/xsv doesn't give any errors. Please check it
with your favourite XML parser!
HOWEVER: the actual content may be wrong:
-I may have mis-copied from the resource type vocabulary.
-I haven't checked what I've done too closely against the VDEX best practice and
implementation guide. For example, the vocabulary identifier is supposed to be a
URI, but this is the identifier which would be used when identifying the
vocabulary in a LOM instance, and according the RLLOMAP that should be
"RDNLTSNType". (Also the URI used as identifier in the embedded metadata might
not be the best choice.)
ALSO: the binding is from an IMS *draft* spec, and so it will probably be
updated in the non too distant future.
That said, I hope you find it useful. If anyone else has any example VDEX
files, I could create a page of examples.
Hope you find this useful, Phil
Footnotes:
The RDN/LTSN resource type vocabulary is documented here:
http://www.rdn.ac.uk/publications/rdn-ltsn/types/
It is intended for use with an application of the LOM called the RLLOMAP, which
is documented here:
http://www.rdn.ac.uk/publications/rdn-ltsn/ap/
