Dear all
Fiona and I have now received a number of exciting looking contributions to
the publication and we can now move on to the editing stage.
At the IBG in London, some people offered to get involved in editing
contributions. We have some money from the RGS to fund one or more meetings
of people to discuss contributions (perhaps in the same format as the
reading weekend that was so successful last May). We would circulate papers
ahead of time and then the group could meet to discuss a number of the
contributions, and then contact authors with comments. Are there
suggestions of places to hold a meeting, and any offers to host one? It
makes sense to have one meeting in February for the contributions we have
already received and then one in March for later contributions which have
been promised (with the understanding that people who submit things late
would get back to their papers to respond to the editors very quickly so
that we can ensure the publication is ready for the IGC).
If anyone is interested in editing or hosting a meeting, please email me
([log in to unmask]). Also, for anyone who has not yet sent in a draft
of their contribution, please could you let me know a realistic date for
when it could be ready so we can see if it will fit in with our proposed
schedule. Remeber this is going to be an excellent opportunity both to mark
the 20th anniversary of Geography and Gender, but also to promote the work
of the WGSG to a wide audience at the conference -- don't miss out on your
chance to get involved!
