For those colleagues who are interested this is to let you know that 4
accredited courses leading to a Certificate in Professional Development in
eLearning begin on Monday 19th January. There are places available on all 4
courses but applications need to be completed and received asap. The 4 courses
are:
ACAD1056: An Introduction to eLearning, Teaching & Training raises participants'
awareness to the range of approaches, tools and methods of delivering and
assessing eLearning. It will help them to appreciate the range of issues that
will need to be addressed by different stakeholders and inform their
decision-making with regard to the adoption of eLearning. Learning Outcomes
include:
1. Compare and contrast approaches to eLearning
2. Evaluate a range of e-Learning, Teaching, Training and Assessment methods
3. Identify the characteristics of effective e Learning
The assignment combines collaborative working with an individual proposal for
exploiting eLearning appropriately within a chosen context giving due
consideration to the likely impact on students and teachers.
ACAD1057: Designing eLearning, Teaching and Training allows participants to
explore a range of tools available for the design and delivery of eLearning. It
will provide participants with the opportunities to acquire the knowledge and
skills necessary to explore these tools and consider their use in support of
learning and teaching. Learning Outcomes include:
1. Developing knowledge of a range of eLearning tools
2. Developing skills in the use of selected eLearning tools
3. Reflecting on the potential use of selected tools within their own
professional context
The assignment involves the production of a portfolio of evidence including
reflection on use of the selected tools.
ACAD1058: Principles of eLearning, Teaching & Training examines theories that
underpin approaches to eLearning, Teaching and Training that exist worldwide. It
will involve participants in collaborative research in order to investigate the
impact of using eLearning. Learning Outcomes include:
1. Analysis of models of and approaches to eLearning, teaching and training
2. Conducting an evaluation of an eLearning environment
3. Considering the implications and evaluate the likely impact of using
eLearning, teaching and training in a range of contexts
The assignment involves the production of a group multi-media report and an
individual reflective diary on the collaborative process.
ACAD1059: eLearning Project will enable participants to reflect upon their
professional context, identify personal learning goals through the production of
a personal learning contract. Depending upon individual's learning goals, they
will develop the ability to either write a specification or construct or
evaluate eLearning with particular reference to A course, programme or training
module. Learning Outcomes include:
1. Identifying teaching, learning and assessment needs with reference to an
on-line or blended learning course, programme or training module
2. Specifying individual learning goals and negotiating a learning contract
3. Reflect on and comment upon the achievement of individual learning goals
The assignment involves devising a learning contract which includes a rationale,
learning goals and activities and assessment details. The contract would be to
draw up a specification that would enable a programmer/courseware designer to
adapt a course, programme or training module for on-line delivery, OR, construct
an eLearning course OR evaluate an existing eLearning course, programme or
training module.
The programme models a range of approaches to eLearning and each course has been
devised to be professionally relevant and provide an experience of being an
on-line learner. Further details and an application form are available at
