Bookings are now being taken for the 2004 Scarborough Summer School, organised jointly by the
Institution of Highways and Transportation and the Institution of Civil Engineers,
Yorkshire & Humberside Branch.
Theme: 'Transport Challenges of Large Scale Events'
Venue: University of Hull, Scarborough Campus.
Date 8-10 July 2004
The Summer School is targeted at younger Transport Professionals and aims to give
an intensive, structured, yet pleasurable training and development opportunity. This will
be achieved through lectures from high calibre speakers, interspersed with an
associated role playing "game" which will foster teamwork, develop presentational and
negotiation skills, and an understanding of the effect of change in the Transport context.
The residential nature of the school allows a chance to discuss the issues raised in a
relaxed manner and will provide the opportunity to meet senior members of the
profession.
The school counts as two days CPD, and represents exceptional value at £190 fully
inclusive of en-suite accommodation and all meals. Participants and their partners will
also have free use of Scarborough Council Sports Centre, adjacent to the venue.
Swimming pool, gym, squash courts etc are available.
